Magic of Mexico
PLACES: 2009 Campeche State Back to Homepage
The State of Campeche lures visitors to its charming colonial port, massive Mayan ceremonial centers and wild jungle reserves. Campeche City, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a crumbling yet captivating port filled with naval history, Baroque Spanish architecture and aging beauty. In its downtown area are 1,600 restored historic buildings, making it one of the most photogenic Colonial cities in Mexico.

Mexico's largest biosphere reserve, Calakmul (also a UNESCO World Heritage site) occupies the southeastern part of the state.
