Magic of Mexico
PLACES: 2009 Oaxaca State Back to Homepage
The charm and allure of the State of Oaxaca and its capital, Oaxaca City, lies in its natural beauty, large indigenous population and historical significance. Steeped in Old World tradition and ancient native culture, Oaxaca offers visitors a side of Mexico that is often touted, yet seldom experienced. Full of bright colors, musical sounds, vibrant light and sights, and the tantalizing smells wafting from its world-renowned markets and restaurants, Oaxaca provides a feast for the senses.

Oaxaca City and nearby Monte Albán, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a showcase of baroque colonial architecture dating from the 16th century. The majestic site of Monte Albán provides a fascinating glimpse into the history of the region's Zapotec and Mixtec descendants.
